Mr Van den Enden said that their members who want to swim fast will wear budgies and in the majority competitions budgie smugglers will be favoured over boardshorts as they are not practical to move around or compete in.

Unfortunately those boardies were found to be the absolute favourite in the same survey that was commissioned by surf brand Quiksilver, showing that there are only 18 per cent of women admitting they still fint the once staple Aussie swimwear, the man-tog, appealing for them.

On the other hand, a third of Australian men said they still choose to be wearing their budgie smugglers for other reasons.

Beau Irvine, Quiksilver Australia marketing manager, has said that he had always thought men preferred to wear boardshorts than the budgie smugglers for another reason.

He said that it is time for those guys living in the dark ages to ditch their budgie smugglers and switch to boardies for them to attract a great deal of women also, if that is their aim.

At the same time as other Gold Coast kids are putting on their lycra swimsuits this summer, one local boy is putting on a lycra suit of a dissimilar kind.

Four year-old Sidney Cook of Canungra has a type of cerebral palsy that mainly impacts his feet and capability simply to move.

But a recent body suit is going to help improve his primary energy to provide him the assistance simply to move and decrease his assistance needs.

It’s known as a ‘Dynamic Action Orthotic’ body fit, or ‘DMO’.

Sidney’s mum, Narelle, was able to acquire the DMO suit after getting financing from the federal government’s ‘Better Start’ program, providing her use of a $12 000 offer, of which $2100 can be used towards products.

Yesterday Sidney frequented the Cerebral Palsy Team (CPL) Gold Coast office where therapists assisted him into his new custom-fitted fit for initially.

The suit operates by placing increased pressure on certain muscles, creating better knowledge of certain areas of your body. This eventually helps the control of activity.

Narelle Cook says regardless of Sidney discovering the suit uncomfortably tight, his first move in the suit was amazing.

He went really well, obviously it’s a bit tight to start with but he’s actually doing really well, he’ll get used to it, there’s no give in the suit, so it will stay as firm as it is, but hopefully we’re hoping he’ll get used to it over time.

Sidney will now wear the suit every waking hour, but Narelle says it will be worth it as there are multiple ways it will help.

It will also help to straighten his back and help him to stand straighter and better which is really good because at the moment they’re noticing mild signs of scoliosis, this will help to straighten it out a bit for him.

Narelle says she could see an improvement in Sidney’s posture as soon as the suit was put on.

He absolutely certainly seemed to be standing straighter, the rest was normal, but certainly a straighter back. It’s great to see on the first wear, fantastic, really good.

She says day-to-day one of the biggest challenges for Sidney is getting around.

Officials were called at the ShoWare Center. Though there were officials already stationed in the area, additional units were called in order to make sure that there is enough enforcement should the chaos escalate.

Shirtless male tourists will also be ushered out of the premises as well.

Perpignan, a popular destination located near the Spanish border, became the latest French city to implement the ruling. Violators will be issued fines if they refuse to cover up after being approached by the authorities. The implementation came after the city of Cavaillon in Provence successfully carried out this ruling earlier this year.

Locals in these French cities have long complained about the instances of tourists going around the area wearing skimpy swimwear.

In Perpignan, locals were surprised to see a group of male British rugby fans going shirtless around the streets.

According to reports, the reality television stars have already secured a deal with Sydney-based Jupi Corporation to set up the apparel, home and accessories line.
