It seemed like businesswoman Kelly Dooley has found an opportunity in designing fashionable sports bra, saying that there is now a growing need for women to still look smashing even though they are sweating it out in the gym.
Dooley, the creator of BodyRock Sports, has designed a fashionable sports bra called Trenta. What’s surprising about this product is the price – a whopping $1,800!
You might be wondering why this gym lingerie suddenly starts grabbing interest in the market. The reason behind the staggering price is that the sports bra has a whole display of Swarovski crystals. The business venture is reportedly with the collaboration of jewelry designer Joseph Knight of the Knight & Hammer company.
The jeweler explained that the Swarovski crystals can be removed from the lingerie and can be worn as a necklace separately. However, one question comes to mind – is this worth it? With so many more reasonably priced and perhaps more practical sports bras about, it seems that such a garment will be reserved for those more image conscious of their wallet-based assets rather than their… assets. Would a woman trying to lose weight in the gym really have the time or luxury to show off her jewelries rather than her body? It’s up for you to decide…

The company has been providing lingerie, knitwear, modest swimwear and other products to major retailers such as Marks & Spencer. However, it went into administration earlier last month which led the owners to come up with measures to save up on costs.

Three voluntary recalls on children’s sportswear and other products that were made in China has been issued by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission based on reports and findings on the strangulation hazard by the products.
According to reports, more than 7,000 children’s zip hooded sweatshirts and hooded pullover sweatshirts that were distributed by New Mode Sportswear in Garden Grove in California are being pulled out from store shelves because the drawstring imposes a strangulation risk on users.
The aforementioned products were said to have been sold at various retail outlets at the West Coast from January to July 2006.

Just a little more than a year after amassing eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics in swimming, Olympian Michael Phelps was noticeably struggling at the World Cup short-course meeting in Stockholm, Sweden this week. A big factor in this struggle is the return to traditional swimsuit by swimmers.
According to reports, after only wearing traditional swimsuit, Phelps placed 16th in the qualifying events which effectively eliminated him in the final round. Traditional swimsuit is now back after it became a standard once more starting January 1 next year.
Phelps revealed in past interviews that he was not in his best shape after the Olympics but his disappointing performance in this week’s meet was noticed by the media. He clocked 47.77 in the 100 meter qualifying event which is a far cry from Sweden’s Stefan Nystrand who led the race with 45.93 seconds.
Phelps will compete in Berlin after finishing the five races in Sweden.

Apparel giant Columbia Sportswear Co. reported last week that its net income for the first quarter of this year dropped about 65 percent due to slump in sales and stronger U.S. currency. Despite this development, the sportswear maker said that it did better than the expectations by the Wall Street.
However, a weak second quarter performance is expected thus dropping its shares to about $34 in last week’s trade. Several retail companies have reported major drops in sales for the past months and Columbia is not an exception. Especially in sportswear: swimwear, running gear, sports bras, running shoes etc. In second quarter, the company expects another 20 percent decline in net sales, part of it will be from shipment timing. Analysts predict a ten percent decline but the company estimated more.
Columbia Sportswear’s first quarter net income logged at $6.9 million which is a sharp drop from the same quarter last year which was $19.9 million. Net sales dropped to $272 million, about 9 percent lower from last year.
