Swimmer Rebecca Adlington, a British Olympian, voiced out her opposition on the new generation of swimwear that promises faster performance and record-breaking results in major events.

On the report published by Daily Telegraph, Adlington said that using this high tech swimwear constitutes unfair advantage.
For the past few months, swimsuits such as Speedo swimwear caused controversy following the sudden influx of new records in the past swimming competitions. There are expectations that these records will be overtaken once more in the upcoming World Swimming Championships in Italy.
Arlington has won the 400-meter and 800-meter events in the Olympics and despite the growing popularity of the high tech swimwear, she’ll still stick to traditional swimwear.
However, it has been noted that Arlington herself used Speed swimwear’s LZR Racer suit in last year’s Beijing Olympics. However, the said swimwear still passed FINA, swimming’s global governing body, standards.
On June 22, FINA released a list of approved swimsuits. One swimwear manufacturer TYR protested the results since four of its designers were not approved by the governing body. As of current development, a French court dismissed the manufacturer’s lawsuit solely because the matter at hand is already out of France’s jurisdiction.
